Sometimes you just mess up when mixing glaze. This Growler is the result of a miss mixed glaze. I have no idea what went wrong so this glaze will only be around for a limited time. This particular piece is in the Etsy store as of this post.
Welcome to my blog! I plan to use this space to update clients and friends on current shows I am doing, new pots in process and just to fill you in on what is happening in the studio.

Spring ?
Haven't posted in a bit so here we go.
The larger swing tops have arrived and I am in the process of creating the full 64oz growlers. They are looking pretty sweet and the first glaze kiln with them should come out this weekend. I will post some epic shots when it's unloaded.
I am always looking for new venues to get my Beer Howlers and Growlers into, if you have any ideas send me a message.
The Kickstarter rewards are shipped and I only have a few items left to get to folks. To everyone who participated thanks so very much.
Melting snow has once again turned my "driveway" in to a mud bog. This a constant thing during this time of year, but I plan to remedy that for next year.
I have just been making pots and drinking really good Michigan beer, so nothing to crazy. I have to say though that life is good.
Talk at ya later.

Latest cone 6 testing results
The gloss brown with a double dip to create a green overlap.
The gloss green with white overlap and a blue overlap.
Various teabowls.
A rutile blue with a white overlap.
A pair of mugs in Wintergreen (left) and Matte Blue/Green Right) to show true color. These 2 mugs were previously shown with the incorrect appearance of the color.

More Cone 6 glaze testing.
These first 3 mugs are 2 of the glazes from the first round that I have great interest in. The only difference is I have tried a black liner glaze instead of a white one. I love the look of the mug in the middle and am looking forward to this combination. With the other green glaze I am preferring the white much more. It looks great overlapped and I think the white looks better as a liner as well.
So, these green mugs you see on the right and left are further testing of the brown glaze that had green highlights from the first batch. Now the glaze is green with brown breaking, I believe it is a thickness issue and will run some more with this glaze to determine what is happening. I do love the green ones, especially the dark brown on the right one creating by overlapping the black glaze. This glaze could almost be used for 2 different glazes by just application thickness.
These are just some oil bottles and a tea bowl with the above glazes and overlaps.

1st round Cone 6 glaze test results.
The pots below represent the first batch of glaze tests that had promising results in test tile form. All have been stain tested and vinegar soaked to check from discoloration. results are stated below each group. If you see anything you like thus far please let me know.
This glaze is a semi matte green that has a seafoam gloss in spots. This has an overlap of gloss white on all the pots. The glaze seems very sensitive to thickness and temperature, but I love the speckled look so much. Further experiments are in the works. The glaze did not stain or dull in a vinegar bath, but may still need a liner after more testing.
This tan glaze is a semi matte that pools a glossy brown brown in indents. Also, when thicker it goes more glossy. The white over lap is creating some crazy running and purple sheen, probably from the titanium. It does stain lightly and will need a liner glaze, it looks wonderful with the dark liner I am working on. It does not discolor in vinegar testing. I am in love with this glaze and will be definitely using it.
This gloss brown has highlights of gloss green floating around in it. A good stable glaze that I will be testing a lot more with.
This seems to be a winner in the group. Reliable thru temperature and thickness. Zero staining or discoloration. I am going to call it Wintergreen. Semi matte/Semi Gloss it is a nice evergreen with white speckling. Will not need a liner glaze.
Due to the internet messing the colors send me a message if you would like further photos. I have a few more glazes ready for the next firing so stay tuned.

News and Kickstarter project
Things have been super exciting around the studio. As you may have noticed I am not doing much traveling to art fairs anymore, instead I have been focusing my business on wholesaling directly to galleries and making a lot of mugs for local breweries in the Lansing area. This new model is taking off so well that I need a new kiln to expand. Below you will find a link to my Kickstarter to raise money for new kiln. I have always appreciated the support my friends and fans have showed and want you to know that I will still be doing custom orders and have the Etsy store for you to shop in. Thanks again for all your help in making the business grow.
Feel free to share out the link to any friends that may be interested.
